Quality assurance systems

The Printing Works Department (IETA) - National Mint is committed to delivering high-quality security printing and minting products. Τo this end, it implements the industry’s best available practices, uses state-of-the-art equipment and employs highly qualified and experienced personnel. 

Moreover, rigorous visual checks and laboratory quality controls are performed at every stage of the production process, from incoming raw materials to the finished product, in accordance with the most updated international standards and specifications. 

Since 2002, IETA implements an Integrated Quality Assurance System, compliant with the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001, and is certified by the National Authority for the activity “Security printing and minting”.

As of 2018, IETA has been certified according to the most updated version of the standard ISO 9001:2015 on quality assurance. Furthermore, the National Mint is an accredited manufacturer of the Eurosystem.

Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety Management System

Given its institutional role, IETA sets as its high priority the respect of the environment and man.

It closely follows international technological developments and strictly implements European and national legislation on environmental protection and occupational health and safety. 

ΕΤΑ aspires to lead by adopting best practices for minimisation of the environmental footprint of its activities and for the sustainable use of available natural resources. 

It actively participates in studies carried out by the Eurosystem concerning the assessment of the environmental and human impact of its products during their whole life cycle.

It encourages the re-use of materials and recycles most of the waste it produces. 

With a view to protecting the health and safety of its staff as well as of consumers, it is increasingly turning to man- and environment-friendly materials. 

Since 2010, it implements an integrated Environmental Management System and an Occupational Health and Safety Management System, certified by the Greek national authority according to the most updated versions of the ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2001 standards, respectively.
