Compliance Management System – Certifications

The Printing Works of the Bank of Greece – National Mint (IETA) is committed to delivering high-quality security printing and minting products. Τo this end, it has been applying strict quality assurance procedures, officially certified by external certification bodies and the European Central Bank, for more than two decades. 

Aware of its prestige and the social responsibility it bears as a Directorate of the Bank of Greece and an accredited supplier to the Eurosystem, as well as in line with its pursuit of continuous improvement at all levels, it implements a comprehensive Compliance Management System covering ethics, quality, the environment, occupational health and safety, and the fight against fraud and bribery.

You can report any breaches related to the above issues to the Bank of Greece’s Compliance Unit in the following ways:

  • Submit a named or anonymous internal report electronically to the email address whistleblowing@bankofgreece.gr.
  • Send a named or anonymous internal report by mail to the Compliance Unit (21 El. Venizelou St., Athens, 10250). In order to ensure confidentiality in the best and most effective way, you are advised to use double envelopes as follows: the internal report shall be placed in an envelope marked “CONFIDENTIAL – Attention: Secretariat of the Officer responsible for Receiving and Monitoring Reports (O.R.M.R.)”. The inner envelope shall then be enclosed in an outer envelope addressed to the Compliance Unit (21 El. Venizelou St., Athens, 10250).
  • Submit an oral report, either by telephone (210-3202343) or through a personal meeting with the Officer responsible for Receiving and Monitoring Reports upon the reporting party’s request. To schedule a meeting, the reporting party is required to contact the O.R.M.R. Secretariat (tel.: 210-3203348 and 210-3202605).
  • Submit an oral named or anonymous internal report by voicemail at 210-3204054. Please note that the reports submitted by voicemail are recorded in a durable and retrievable form.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ISO 9001:2015)

QUALITY POLICY

IETA provides products and services of the highest standards and is certified in accordance with the most recent version of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

It employs specialised and experienced staff, uses state-of-the-art equipment and applies international standards and specifications to all its activities. It conducts rigorous visual and laboratory inspections at all stages of production, from raw materials to the final product.

It carefully plans any change that could affect the quality of its products, assessing the risks and opportunities associated with such changes.

As part of its Quality Policy and through the implementation of the Compliance Management System, IETA seeks to:

  • effectively check the quality of raw materials and products at all stages of production, in order to minimise the risk of defects; and
  • minimise waiting times at each production stage, in order to meet delivery deadlines as well as the quantitative and qualitative requirements of its customers.

At the same time, the systematic monitoring of quantitative and qualitative indicators, the conduct of thorough internal audits, and consultation with staff and external partners contribute to the continuous improvement of product quality and service effectiveness.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ISO 14001:2015)

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Within the framework of its institutional role as a Directorate of the Bank of Greece and as an accredited manufacturer of the Eurosystem, IETA highly prioritises respect for the environment and for people.

It strictly complies with European and national legislation on environmental protection, natural resource management and climate change mitigation.

It monitors technological developments at the international level and strives to be a pioneer in adopting best practices to minimise the environmental impact of its activities.

It actively participates in research conducted by the Eurosystem regarding the environmental and human impacts of its products throughout their life cycle.

It takes measures to conserve and properly manage the available natural resources and is increasingly turning to the use of materials that are friendly to both people and the environment.

It seeks to reduce its waste by encouraging the reuse of available materials. Furthermore, it recycles, processes, or utilises for energy purposes most of the waste it produces.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ISO 45001:2018)

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

For IETA, protecting the health and safety of its employees, as well as of those affected by its activities, is a top priority.

It takes systematic action to continuously improve working conditions and effectively prevent accidents or other emergencies inside and around its facilities.

It uses certified equipment that meets all modern and effective safety requirements stipulated by law.

It ensures the safety of its facilities and their continuous inspection to identify potential sources of risk.

It enables optimal work organisation and provides all necessary resources to optimise infrastructure and the working environment.

It constantly raises staff awareness of health and safety issues and encourages employees to submit suggestions, comments, or proposals for the improvement of their working conditions and methods.

It monitors and promptly implements national and European legislation regarding the health and safety of its staff.

It constantly explores opportunities to use human-friendly materials and actively participates in research conducted by the Eurosystem to find solutions that increasingly ensure the health and safety of employees and the public.

ANTI-BRIBERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ISO 37001:2016)

ANTI-FRAUD AND ANTI-BRIBERY POLICY

IETA implements and monitors procedures and policies for the effective prevention and handling of fraud and bribery incidents as well as for maintaining a high level of integrity among all staff members and in all of its activities.

It implements the mechanisms for the prevention and deterrence of fraud and bribery established by the Bank of Greece and the European Central Bank and maintains internal control systems to monitor their proper and effective implementation.

It constantly raises staff awareness of its anti-fraud and anti-bribery procedures and has established secure communication channels for internal whistleblowing.

It guides its staff members on the appropriate actions to take if they become aware of or have reasonable grounds to believe that an incident of fraud or bribery has occurred, and encourages employees and external partners to report such incidents by following the prescribed procedure.

COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ISO 37301:2021)

COMPLIANCE POLICY

IETA systematically monitors and promptly complies with the requirements arising from the regulatory framework governing its operations, with the aim of ensuring corporate governance and safeguarding its own reputation and the reputation of the Bank of Greece.

It examines and assesses risks related to regulatory compliance and ensures that the necessary preventive measures are adopted, where required.

It ensures the establishment and strengthening of control and prevention mechanisms for compliance matters.

It constantly raises staff awareness of compliance issues, aiming to develop a uniform and robust compliance culture.

It encourages employees and other stakeholders to report concerns or deviations regarding such matters.

It has created and maintains communication channels for internal reporting and whistleblowing, which are tamper-proof and protect the personal data of the individuals involved.

It implements disciplinary procedures, in accordance with the provisions of the Bank of Greece’s internal regulations and applicable legislation, regarding misconduct by employees, suppliers, or other partners.
