Few words about the coin
In 480 BC, the Greeks, under the command of Leonidas, king of Sparta, tried to halt the advance of the vast Persian army at the narrow pass of Thermopylae. The Greeks’ self-sacrifice, following Leonidas’s refusal to surrender his arms with the famously defiant retort “Come and take them” («Μολών λαβέ»), is a timeless inspiration for every nation fighting for freedom.
